🌿 Is acupuncture safe?
Yes. Lina is fully trained, qualified, and registered with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
All acupuncture needles used are sterile, single-use, and disposed of after each session, ensuring the highest standards of hygiene and safety.
🌱 Do I need to prepare anything for the acupuncture session?
If this is your first appointment, you will receive a New Patient Form by email. Please complete and return this form before your appointment to allow sufficient time to review your health history.
On the day of your session, please bring any relevant blood test results, scans, or medical reports if you have them.
For optimal results, we recommend arriving neither hungry nor overly full, and well hydrated. Acupuncture works best when your body has adequate energy — think of it as having enough fuel in the tank to respond effectively to treatment.
🍀 Does acupuncture hurt?
Most people experience little to no discomfort during acupuncture. You may feel a mild, dull, or achy sensation when a needle is inserted, which usually fades quickly.
Everyone’s sensitivity is different, and the depth and technique of needling are always adjusted based on your comfort level. Many clients are surprised by how deeply relaxed they feel during treatment, and some even fall asleep shortly after the needles are inserted.
🤍 Is acupuncture safe during pregnancy?
Acupuncture may be used during pregnancy when provided by a qualified and experienced practitioner. Lina has extensive experience in pregnancy care and adapts all treatments carefully according to the stage of pregnancy and individual presentation.
Certain acupuncture points and techniques are avoided during pregnancy to ensure safety. If you are pregnant or trying to conceive, please let us know when booking so your treatment can be appropriately tailored.
🌿 Can I combine acupuncture with massage or Chinese herbal medicine?
Yes. Acupuncture is often more effective when combined with remedial massage or Chinese herbal medicine, depending on your needs.
Massage may help release muscle tension, improve circulation, and support physical recovery.
Chinese herbal medicine works internally to support balance, recovery, and long-term health.
These therapies can be used together in a coordinated and holistic way, and recommendations are always made based on your individual presentation.
🪴 Marks after cupping: Is this normal?
Yes. It is common for circular marks or redness to appear on the skin after cupping therapy. These marks are a normal response to suction and increased local circulation, not bruises caused by injury.
The colour and intensity of the marks vary from person to person and may reflect areas of tension or stagnation according to Chinese medicine principles. The marks are temporary and typically fade within a few days to a week, depending on individual skin sensitivity and circulation.
Cupping is always adjusted to your comfort level, and your practitioner will explain what to expect before treatment.
⏳ How many sessions will I need?
The number of sessions varies depending on your condition, overall health, and treatment goals.
Some people notice changes after one session, while chronic or long-standing conditions often require a series of treatments for more sustained results.
After your initial consultation, Lina will discuss a personalised treatment plan with you, including recommended frequency and expected progression.
